Our Twos program supports one of the most exciting stages of early childhood, when children are learning to express themselves, follow simple routines, build independence, and explore the world with endless curiosity. Two-year-olds thrive on consistency, so our days follow a predictable structure that includes meals, potty times, learning activities, outdoor play, and rest. Within that structure, children enjoy hands-on experiences that help them practice important skills such as counting, recognizing shapes, following 1–2 step directions, jumping, using new art and music materials, and beginning their potty-training journey.

At this age, sensory exploration becomes a major part of learning. Our Twos classroom offers a wide range of messy, meaningful experiences: mud, water, grass, paint, and other textures that support brain development and encourage creativity. Because sensory play can get a little messy, we ask that families send extra clothes each day, and if your child is potty training, please include an adequate amount of clothing. To support successful potty training at school, we also recommend waterproof, closed-toed shoes like Crocs so your child always has safe footwear even in the event of an accident.

Teachers guide children through fun and engaging circle times where they learn new songs, listen to stories, engage in felt board time, explore musical instruments, and practice early academic and social-emotional skills. Throughout the day, we model language, emotional coping strategies, and positive social interactions to help the children navigate those big feelings that are so common at age two.

Communication is a key part of this program, and families stay connected through Brightwheel with updates on routines, milestones, and progress. Especially during potty training. Each child will also have a special portfolio created by their teachers, filled with memories, goals, and accomplishments that they’ll take home when they graduate from the Twos room.

We work closely with families to help two-year-olds build confidence, independence, and a love for learning as they prepare for the next stage of preschool.
